Beef Noddle anyone? - hot pot goodies

What shall I have on Sunday lunch? I asked myself after a late night of Mexican party at my house. Suddenly I imagine a hot pot and my mouth start watering! Yeah hot pot sounds like a great recover lunch. I called to one of my favourite beef noodle places to make a reservation in an airconditioned room.

Heng Shoon Seng is a beef noodle place located near the Port of Thailand. This place's specialty is hot pot. You can order a pot of beef and other inner parts. If that's not enought you can order more by dishes. The beef parts I like here are stewed beef, toung, tripe and liver. You can also order a bowl of rice or noddle to eat with it.

If you go there alone you can order a bowl of noodle instead of a pot, which will be too big of a portion.

You can tell how goodies it was by counting all the plates on the table! Really recommend you to make a reservetion before you heading there to save yourself from a hassel.

Parking Toy - GooDies for people who love Music

For people who are looking for a great night out and good music in BKK, Parking toy is your answer. The highlight here is the bands. There are 3-4 bands performing each night. The bands are very diversify, starting with a classical string quartet, Ska & Reggae, Rock, acoustic, electronic to Heavy Metal.

If you goes there regular then you will notice a musician with a guitar performing "Mario" game Theme song on the stage. His name is P'Tu - don't be fooled by his "doctor-like" appearance. He is one of the grates guitarists of Thailand.

Parking Toy is located on Kaset Nawamin Road. It's a bit far from the city but I guarantee you one of the greatest music experiences of your life in BKK.

Ready for a glass of wine? - Monsoon Valley, wine goodies in Hua Hin

Because I have condominium in Hua Hin so I've spent quite a bit of time there. One chill place I want to recommend you this time is a winery called Monsoon Valley, which is located 45 minutes away from the downtown of Hua Hin.

The architecture here is modern with a touch of some Thai material such as a bamboo roof. you can enjoy the Monsoon Valley wine by glass or bottle. Did i tell you that their wines have won an award, too?. If you are not sure which one to pick you can simply have a taste before you order at the wine tasting section. If you don't like their wine you can order other kind of drinks such as Prosecco or sparkling wine.

Snack and food are also available here. But I personally don't like food here that much though.

The over all atmosphere is very chill. If you go at the end or the beginning of the year you will get to experience a real chill time, the only chill time that Thailand can offer.

Plearn Wan - Take the time machine back to the GooDies old days

A new (hip in the oldstyle) place that just opened months ago, plaen Waan is now a new destination for people who travel to Hua Hin. Decorated in the old wood style that will take you back to Thailand 50 years ago.

There are many shops in this complex including coffee shop, restaurant, cloth store and ya-dong shop (thai harble alcohol). You might feel this place is smaller than you've imagined but don't worry because the second phrase is now on the way.

It's definately a good spot to take a picture and hanging out. I haven't try neither food nor drinks there yet but will surely do next time. I've heard that every Friday - Sunday from now on, there will be "Temple fair" and more activities added. You can update the activities on the website below. So are you ready to get into a time machine now?

Eat like a Shogun - Japanese goodies

This is one of my favourie Japanese restaurant in Bangkok. Shogun Is located in Dusit Thani hotel on second floor. This place seperated into 3 sections which are Tepan Yaki, Sushi bar and private rooms.

My main reason to come here is for Sashimi - salmon, hamachi (yellow tail), toro (chuy-toro and o-toro), and akagai (clam). These items are shipped from Japan! So close your eyes and imagin Mout. Fuji while you chewing!

There are other Items that are goodies. The shirauo karaage (deep fried small fish) is very crispy and yummy, buri shioyaki (grilled yellow tail with salt). to make it more memorable order the collar part of the fish because it's juicy and tender!.

The other ordinary Japanese dishes like Tonkutsu or Tempura are also good. Another high light dish here is
Kobe steak. Try once and you will not forget it for the rest of your life!!!

Dang Seafood Restaurant in Mae Klong - GooDies outside BKK

This time let the GooDies goes pass Bangkok border to Samut Songkram province or some people call it "Mae Klong". Mae Klong is actually a river in the area that connects to the Gulf of Thailand. So imagine the richness in resources!!! That's why this place is very famous in fisheries as a consequence, there are lots of goodies, freshy seafood available in this area for a very reasonable price. My recommendation for this place is Thai mackerel. When it's a season, around December, it tastes almost like European sardine...

Dang is a seafood restaurant that is very famous in town. The reason is its reputation for selecting the best quality of seafood for their ingredients. Look at my steamed crab.

There are not many items on the menu but everything is da bomb!! Try stir fried calamari with garlic, deep fried pompret fish with fish sauce, preserved crab in fish sauce shrimp fried rice and tom yum goong. I once counted 30 shrimps in my tom yum goong!!!

Now this restaurant has 2 locations but I always prefer the first one. It's a bit tricky to tell the direction so if any one of you want to go try this please just post a comment and I will post the map.

Dang Restaurant No.1
Soi Rat Prasit, Smut Songkram

Note: Go with lots of friends coz the portion is pretty big!

The Cottage Restaurant my first BKK GooDies!

Here is a little story about this place. The Cottage located in a complex called "The Village" that was once the only sport club in Phatthanakarn area. Many people remember it as a Phattanakarn Driving Range. This restaurant has been operated for 30 plus years! So you can imagine how yummy the food is, right?

My favourite dishes here is "stir fried crispy fish with curry". The fish is so crispy and the curry is not overwhelming the fish at all, plus Thai herbs that make this dish complete. You gotta try it if you are curry lover.

The Cottage serves various kind of international food as well as special of the day items such as German style pork knuckle serve with sauerkraut and mashed potato. Weird kinda mixture huh! But may be this style of food is the secret that make this restaurant distinguish itself against other new comers in this area.

The Cottage: Between Soi Phattanakarn 9 & 11
